I recently graduated from Kennesaw State University (KSU) with a B.S. in Communication with a concentration in public relations in the summer of 2014.
My education and work experience continues to provide me with many skills that will lead me to be successful in the fields of communications and public relations. I currently have extensive knowledge in the following areas:
-AP style and grammar
-Writing and pitching press releases
-Public relations planning and research
-Graphic design in programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign
-Website design and upkeep
-Writing social media content and managing social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and LinkedIn)
-Editing and proofreading various materials
-Composing digital marketing emails and newsletters via Constant Contact
-Publishing and writing blogs using Blogger
-Development of blogs for various clients, events and topics (view on "About")
Since my recent move to Colorado, I landed a position at Baptie & Company as a digital marketing specialist.
At my last position, I worked as a public relations intern at Melissa Libby & Associates, a public relations agency in Atlanta specializing in restaurant, food and beverage public relations. During my internship, I further developed my writing, editing and proofreading skills. I write three to six blog posts daily for The Dish blog and various clients. One of my weekly tasks included editing and assembling the newsletter, The Dish, read by 1,500 people weekly. I also manage Instagram accounts for six high-profile Atlanta restaurants and collect content for a weekly Pinterest board. Since I am a dog-lover, one of my favorite aspects of this internship was managing the Adopt a Golden Atlanta Facebook page, a page with more than 6,000 likes.
While studying at KSU, I held leadership positions on campus and internships.
I served as the marketing intern for the Community Bankers Association of Georgia (CBA), a non-profit organization in Atlanta. At CBA, I focused on gaining experience that gave me an edge on my fellow job seekers by developing my knowledge and fascination of the non-profit sector of communication. Since the marketing department at CBA is relatively small, the ability to multi-task, work in a fast paced environment all while being a team player is a must.
In 2013, I held an internship position with Allied Integrated Marketing. This role allowed me to acquire an understanding of the promotional and sales aspects of marketing. I was responsible for preforming marketing research to promote various high profile films as effectively as possible.
I also served on the panhellenic executive council as the vice president of communications at KSU in 2013. Panhellenic is the governing body for the sororities on campus. While serving in my position, I collaborated with students and faculty, implemented a newsletter to distribute to the sorority community at KSU and designed the 56-page sorority recruitment manual called It's Owl Good.
